DESCRIPTION DE L'éVèNEMENT
EVENT DESCRIPTION
The temporary exhibition at the Musée gruérien deals with a topical subject: it offers visitors the opportunity to experience the naturalisation procedure as it takes place in Gruyère. The immersive scenography invites the public to play different roles, to enter the administrative process of the « Swiss factory », and to ask themselves questions: what does « being Swiss » mean today? Why do we want to become Swiss? Does naturalisation solve all questions of belonging and discrimination? The exhibition, the publication and the accompanying mediation programme were developed jointly by the Musée gruérien, Anne Kristol (University of Neuchâtel), Janine Dahinden (University of Neuchâtel) and the photographer Francesco Ragusa, with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
By combining reconstructions of the procedure with ethnographic and photographic documentation, the exhibition examines the naturalisation procedure in Gruyère and the symbolism associated with it. It allows the public to experience the naturalisation process and to discover the point of view of the decision-makers, while being invited to take a reflective look at the naturalisation system put in place by the authorities.
EVENTBESCHREIBUNG
Warum will man Schweizer werden?
